Hi, I have just purchased a burgandy quilt and would like to paint a feature wall (the wall right behind the bed). I don't have a bed head so the bed is right up against the wall.
Anyone have any suggestions? I thought the same colour as the bedspread might be a bit much.
Thanks

how bout sage green (dark green moss)
oir chocolate brown or maybe a lilac or yellow. those are all colors that would compliment burgendy so take ur pick!
I really love navy blue walls. It gives a sophisticated, nautical feel.
i think a subdued green (like the color of the text boxes on this site) would be perfect. green and red are opposite one another on the color wheel, so you never want to put a pure green and red together, but if you contrast the shades (ie. a dark red with purple undertones-burgundy, and a light green with yellow tones-this green that i would call a pastel mint) should work famously together, because the contrast would be enough to be eye-catching, but not gaudy or cartooney. plus, if you got a new bedspread any time in the future, the neutral green wouldn't have to be changed, as it would go fairly well with any other color as well.
if you're really having trouble after that, you could always check out swatches. find one that matches your bedspread, then walk around the swatch section of the paint store, holding it up to every possible combination until you find one that is awesome for you.
-if you can't find a swatch that matches your bedspread, just be like linus and carry the blanket around the paint store with you. if you act like it's completely normal, no one will mention it (to your face).
maybe a medium beige glaze over a light beige base
Every room needs a little black.
If you wanted to use paint only - I think a panel painted in burgundy would tone with the bedspread without being too overpowering. It should go straight down the middle of the bed leaving about half a pillow width free each side.
You could also introduce burgundy by using patterned wallpaper on the feature wall - if papering the whole wall is too much, try a panel again. Otherwise, try painting it a shade or two darker than the remaining walls, and bring the scheme together with a couple of pretty cushions in toning colours or patterns.
