Do i have to use primer if i am painting my walls.?

i am painting my walls an wondering if i have to use primer and they r pretty dirty.Do i have to use primer if i am painting my walls.?
if they are really dirty, or if you're changing the color from a dark color to a lighter colore and especially if there is nicotine from cigarette smoke present, then, yes. it would be recomended to use primer. primer sticks to almost anything, and then the paint sticks to the primer.Do i have to use primer if i am painting my walls.?
It depends on what color your wall is... if it's something soft and close to gray I would say skip the primer, but if you have bright red or something then definately use primer. It also depends on how expensive your paint is. If it's really cheap paint, the color wont come out right without primer.
It is best to use a primer to cover up any dirt that may bleed through. Also, if you are painting a lighter color than what you have, the primer will cover up the darker color and you will have to use less paint.

the smart thing to do is to use primer, it seals the other paint out, and it gives u a good base to start with so ur color looks good on the wall, and will actually look like the color its supposed to!!!
Yes you should use primer, it will make the paint stand out and be alot more bolder, and will last alot longer, i reccomend KELZ. I think thats how you spell it.
You dont HAVE to use primer, but if the walls are dirty, this will give a base coat and help seal the paint to the walls. It will also help any current spots from seeping through.
