How do I fix a bad paint job on a wall?

I need help! I painted a wall in my house with a dark color, with flat paint. The first coat went on well, but was a little too thin. I got help applying the second coat from a friend, and he put it on too thick. You can now see the roller marks on the wall. How do I fix this? I still have some paint left, but I'm worried that painting it again may make it worse. How do I fix a bad paint job on a wall?
It doesn't matter how many coats you put on . If your putting a dark colour its not uncommon to put more then two coats, if you have some imperfection you can lightly sand between coats . Applying the paint in a W pattern will help cover any imperfection. Don't worry its only paint its the easiest thing to fix.How do I fix a bad paint job on a wall?
If the wall is smooth, you should be using a good quality 3/8's nap roller cover to help minimize the stipple which looks like a orange peel. But first you need to sand the walls to knock down some of the high spots. When satisfied start with your re-coat with the roller cover mentioned.Make sure you finish in one direction from top to bottom and keep a wet edge. I also would recommend using an eggshell to a satin finish with dark colors as flat finishes will burnish (leaving white streaks). A sheen will minimize this streaking. Good Luck
Sand the wall just a little bit then PAINT OVER THE OTHER PAINT WITH A BETTER PAINT JOB OR WALL PAPER!!!
You may have to go over your wall with a primer and then repaint it....go to Lowes and ask their paint specialists.....they will tell you everything u need to know
is it a textured wall? or a smooth wall?

If it is a smooth wall, I would sand any';paint seams'; down, and paint over it (if there are visable bumps). If it is textured......perhaps try painting over it. When you paint make sure you run the roller in several directions, and a speratic cross pattern, this will eliminate paint lines. Often when I paint, I end up putting on 3 coats, this makes for a solid color. I or 2 coats just dosn't give good coverage.
re-pant it!
painting it again wont hurt anything however if you don't have enough paint left i suggest you take what you do have to get more so they can match it perfectly. there really is no limit on how many coats you can put on just keep applying until you get the desired consistency that you want to achieve. good luck
Here is what I would do...Paint it again...instruct your friend to roll the roller slowly and re-dip the roller often...you may need to buy some more paint though and put it on thick all over.

Or go buy some wall paper.
paint it white and start over
sand first then repaint
Get yourself a good white Primer/Sealer and roll it on, once dry just paint again.
Hi, Darker colors need about 3-4 coats, Darker colors also tend to be a little thinner. Try putting on another coat, Don't be surprise if you need a 4th coat. To achieve the darkness of the color takes alot of paint..Pratt %26amp; Lambert makes a awesome paint for dark colors, usually only takes 2 coats..Its called Red Seal..Its about 26.00 per gallon Good Luck
Simple. no need to start from scratch.

if you see the roller strike it is more likely that you need a 3 rd coat. dark color require often 3 and even 4 coat.

if by too thick you mean you see relief on the paint. You can sand it with a 100 grid sanding paper, wash the dust and do a thin re-coat of the area you sanded that should be enough if the paint cover already the wall properly . You can also add one last thin coat depending on how many paint left.

if you don't have enough paint left, buy another one. if it's premix look at batch number, if its the same, color will be the same. If the mix is done by the paint merchant. color should be a little little different. but if you do one full coat to all your wall, you will not see it.
