What is the best way to paint stripes on a brick wall?

I have to paint a one foot wide stripe on ruff concreat block. Brushing is out so I am considering using an airless or my automobile painter. I am using a urathyne oil paint. What is the best way to paint stripes on a brick wall?
What ever you do ';DON'T SPAY'; The spay mist goes everywhere.

Tape off the edges and use a think roller brush and a normal paint brush to get into the deep parts.

If you spay you will be spending days trying to clean up the spay that drifted onto things. What is the best way to paint stripes on a brick wall?
cover the block all over except for where the stripe will be so that it leaves the foot wide area clear and no paint can get under the covering .it will be difficult to find something to cover the rough block with something which will stick unless you try to stick down the edges with duct tape (from hardwear shops)
Don't. Now wasn't that simple?
