Feature wall to paint, which wall should it be?

Painting lounge, want to use a bold colour on the chimney breast wall, then softer colours else where. Room is not huge, wall I want to paint is opposite the door entrance and the bay window is to the right. Any thoughts?

Also for Bedroom want to use a really great bold colour on one wall only, should it be the wall behind headboard or opposite?

THANKS FOR ANY HINTS AND TIPSFeature wall to paint, which wall should it be?
I have just finished decorating my bedroom - I used a really nice wallpaper behind the bed - a brown wicker style with blue oriental style flowers (Linda Barker - from B%26amp;Q)... then the rest of the room is painted a colour I picked from a small part of the wallpaper pattern... a stoney colour. All I need now is a nice simple headboard so not to detract from the wall paper.

As for your room - you could keep your boldest colour on the fireplace, then pale colour for the two walls leading from that - then the opposite wall pick a colour which compliments but is lighter than the fireplace. You could also consider painting the ceiling the same as the side walls.

I know this sounds mad but a lot of pubs are redecorating and our local has given me ideas for colour schemes. And - no I don't think I will be installing my own fruit machine although I think my fella secretly wishes we could!Feature wall to paint, which wall should it be?
The feature wall you choose should be the one you paint. If you paint the wrong one you`ll be disapointed
I think that to pain the chimney breast wall a different colour is the best idea - it's opposite the door to the lounge - giving it a central location to visitors. I have exactly the same in my flat at the moment, where we went for a lilac colour whilst the rest of the walls are cream - it works.
both things you said will look great..the best thing abot paint is that if you dont like it you can always change it without to much fuss! headboard wall for the bedroom(then you can match bedding)
opposite of the entry or most uncluttered ( the key here is feature it should be noticed when entering but also it should be reasonably clear of clutter such has furniture and openings )

for accent purposes you can also do just a portion of a wall ( a square or a border stripe ) the impact is greater and the use of color can be bolder
