How do I thin non-vinyl Matt Emulsion for painting on newly plastered walls?

I have to paint on freshly plastered walls, I've seen some other questions/answers which recommend a non-vinyl Matt Emulsion and adding 30% water for the first coat. This is to soak the paint into the plaster so the first proper coat goes on smooth. Question is - how do I mix the paint, is this just a simple a case of adding 1.65 (approx) litres of water to 5 litres of the emulsion and giving it a good stir? How do I thin non-vinyl Matt Emulsion for painting on newly plastered walls?
Stir in water. Doing it cautiously as you can always add more, but not take it out. 30% will go up or down depending on the quality and thickness of the paint. But you want something resembling milk.

Ideally, but not essentially, you brush this coat on working it in a little and picking up and getting underneath any residue left behind by the plasterer, but not many decorators bother because it is a slower process. How do I thin non-vinyl Matt Emulsion for painting on newly plastered walls?
Basically, yes. Best way is to pour some undiluted emulsion into an empty container, and add the water to that. Don't worry too much about ratios, just don't over do it.
Do it in smaller amounts - in something like a paint kettle (or just a biggish pot).

If you do it into the paint pot first of all it won't fit (!) but secondly as you paint you'll find it gets thicker near the bottom. So just dilute again.
put the water in and stir with anything
add some H20!!
